Use of the formula according to Traditional Chinese Medicine:

  • supplements Qi and blood
  • raises yang Qi
  • benefits the eyes and ears
  • clears yin fire

Description:

The formula very effectively addresses eye and ear problems associated with a deficiency of Qi, especially with a weakened spleen (digestive complex), when insufficient vital substances – Qi and blood – are produced. On one hand, there is a lack of energy to "carry" nourishment up to the head, and on the other, there is a lack of nourishment itself. This affects both the senses and the brain.

This manifests as a deterioration of vision and hearing, blurred vision, tinnitus – usually buzzing in the ears, and dizziness. Memory weakens, and we struggle to recall words. With a weakened spleen, we suffer from loss of appetite, spontaneous sweating, or potentially chronic diarrhoea or mushy stools. The condition may be a consequence of older age, but it also appears in middle age, when it is often part of the picture of so-called yin fire: a weak spleen, variously expressed heat above and dampness below. This can manifest, for example, as otitis media or inflammation in the colon area – such as ulcerative colitis, when dampness falling downwards stagnates and turns into damp heat.

Indications:

  • deterioration of vision and hearing due to Qi deficiency
  • hearing impairment
  • blurred vision
  • tinnitus – buzzing (or whistling) in the ears
  • impaired memory and cognitive abilities
  • headache from fatigue and exhaustion
  • dizziness (vertigo)
  • cataracts
  • otitis media
  • pterygium (conjunctival disease)
  • ulcerative colitis
  • soft stools with mucus

Modern use:

  • cognitive function disorders
  • cerebral arteriosclerosis
  • tinnitus
  • weakening of vision and hearing
  • cataract
  • optic nerve atrophy
  • vertigo
  • otitis media
  • ulcerative colitis
  • loss of appetite

Tongue:

  • often pale
  • swollen
  • with tooth marks
  • possibly with a red tip

Pulse:

  • xu
  • xi
  • ruo

Contraindications:

  • excess patterns where there is no deficiency in the middle burner area

Recommendations:

  • the formula also supports skin vitality
  • during treatment, avoid raw, cold, sour, greasy, and fatty foods – they further weaken your digestion
  • when taking this formula, you should not be exposed to fire and smoke
  • in case of weakened vision and hearing with significant liver and kidney deficiency – after managing the spleen weakness, it is necessary to supplement with a formula based on Liu Wei Di Huang Wan
