This 17th-century formula is one of the most effective for managing itching in skin conditions characterised by dry, non-weeping eczema and hives, or reddened skin manifestations in acne, measles, and chickenpox. It can also help with prickly heat or fungal skin infections, rosacea, or contact with poisonous plants such as ivy or sumac. It is also very suitable for psoriasis, where pinpoint bleeding appears after scratching off the upper scaly layer.
About a third of the herbs in the mixture disperse wind and stop itching, a third clear heat, and a quarter nourish the blood and yin – thereby helping the mixture to harmonise the defensive layer (immunity – in this case, the skin's reaction to external stimuli) and its nutrition. Well-nourished and moisturised skin is then much more resistant and healthier against all external factors.
During treatment, avoid foods in your diet that introduce heat or wind into the body, e.g., alcohol, coffee, spicy foods, seafood.
Similarly, we recommend not smoking.
