Use of the formula according to Traditional Chinese Medicine:

  • nourishes Kidney Yin
  • nourishes and calms Liver Yin and Blood
  • benefits the ears
  • subdues excessive Yang rising to the head
  • clears empty heat

Description:

The mixture is designed to treat two fundamental problems – hearing loss and tinnitus, i.e., ringing in the ears. In both conditions, the problem can be either a lack of nourishment – patterns of insufficient nourishment, or an excess – when there is "something extra". Most often, this is Liver Yang, which, in the absence of Yin substances, loses its anchor and rises up to the head, where, in addition to tinnitus, it can manifest as headaches, dizziness, or eye problems. It is said that in deficiency patterns, it is more of a humming sound, while in the rise of Yang, the sounds are more unpleasant, high-pitched whistling or ringing, often very loud.

Nourishment in the mixture is provided by the basic formula for nourishing Liver and Kidney Yin substances, Blood, Yin, and Essence – Liu Wei Di Huang Wan (Six-Ingredient Pill with Rehmannia – Rehmannia supports normal vascular system function and regulates blood pressure). Bupleurum carries it "upwards" and guides it to the ears. Magnetite is a heavy product and, besides benefiting the ears (and eyes), it also pushes the rising Liver Yang back down, while Acorus "opens" the ears so that we may have sharp hearing again.
