It is related to wild thyme, originates from the Mediterranean, and its leaves have a strong taste and aroma. It adorns our gardens because it blooms beautifully and is used fresh or dried in dishes.

It contains a lot of calcium. It is used in cheeses, soups, minced meats, salads, legumes, on fish, and for pickling cucumbers. It contains essential oils with antiseptic effects and tannins. It acts against diarrhoea, bloating, and inflammation of the digestive tract.

Dried thyme is of a warm nature and sharp taste, while fresh is of a warm nature and bitter taste.
