Poppy seeds are very rich in oil. Although the poppy is a historically very old plant, oil began to be produced from it in the territory of France and Germany sometime around 1900. It contains vitamin E, B1, B12, D, iron, magnesium, potassium, phosphorus, calcium and unsaturated fatty acids.

It is suitable for cold cuisine, especially for the preparation of sweet dishes.

Poppy is of a warm nature and bitter taste and enters the heart meridian.
