It originates from China and is considered a miracle herb for broken and damaged bones, as well as for colds or asthma.

It contains nelumbine (supports expectoration and the movement of fluids), asparagine, and lotus starch.

Raw, it clears heat, promotes the production of fluids, and disperses stagnation. Cooked, it tonifies the spleen and stomach, clears heat from the blood, dissolves phlegm, soothes mucous membranes, and stops diarrhoea.

It influences the stomach, spleen, and large intestine meridians. The taste is sweet and the nature is cool.
