  • balanced (cooling, raw smoothing, roasted astringent, yin in yang, non-toxic)

Taste:

  • sweet (slightly pungent, bitter, bland)

Tropism:

  • liver and pericardium

Direction of action: - 

Effects:

  • stops bleeding (Tan)
  • invigorates blood (Sheng)

 

Dosage:

  • 6 – 12 g, standardly 6 g

Contraindications:

  • do not use during pregnancy, in cases of heat from yin deficiency and absence of blood stasis
